As we will be staying close to home this summer, we asked Team ML where they would be staycationing and what they will be packing with them. Explore our edit inspired by UK destinations we would recommend.

MARKUS
Founder and Creative Director

Recommends: Great Tew, Cotswolds

Wear: Spring Garden Lip Anna Tee

Markus says: Having recently stayed here myself, I can say Great Tew and the Cotswolds in general is the perfect place for a staycation getaway. Set against the backdrop of the quiet Oxfordshire countryside, this little village is a welcomed change from city life. Spend the day reconnecting with yourself on long walks and then head to the traditional village pub in the evening to meet welcoming locals and visiting travelers alike. Wear our Spring Garden Lip Anna Tee which will bring the beauty of a spring garden in to your mini-break wardobe.

MONICA
Managing Director

Recommends: St Ives, Cornwall

Wear: Watercolour Ice Cream Alex Tee

Monica says: This is one of my favourite places (out of season) for a Staycation. Soak up the sunshine in our Watercolour Ice Cream Alex Tee; the light is really special, and the sun always creates a beautiful golden hue across the stunning landscape. The coastline is rugged and even on the wildest days, it has a magical feel.

Love the association with artists, potters and sculptures - Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Bernard a leach, Sir Terry Frost, Peter Landon, to name but a few. The wonderful Tate gallery towering over Porthmeor beach and the amazing locally and sustainably caught seafood, cooked fresh from morning catch.

JEAN
Head of Ecommerce

Recommends: Jura, Scotland

Wear: Watercolour Cat Alex Tee

Jeans says: If you’re partial to a wee drop of whiskey then there’s nothing better than a trip to Scotland, particularly the islands of Islay and Jura.  Reached by ferry from the mainland the more populated island, Islay, has a multitude of distilleries as well as beautiful coastlines for exploring.  My favourite, however, is the wilderness island of Jura.  There is one distillery conveniently situated opposite the only hotel which might not be statistically accurate, but it feels like it, as there is only one village on Jura.

Throw on our Watercolour Cat Alex Tee and some walking boots in your car and drive the single road running the length of the island, passing the cottage where George Orwell wrote 1984, and keeping an eye out for wildlife: deer, seals, eagles and snakes, and when the road ends hike the seven remaining miles to see the Corryvrecken whirlpool, a natural phenomenon situated between Jura and Scarba islands.  Be sure to work up an appetite because food in Scotland is unbelievable – local, seasonal and exceptional quality – and of course always followed with a dram or two!

ÁINE
Ecommerce Trading & Marketing Executive

Recommends: Brighton, East Sussex

Wear: Sequin Two Tone Lip Anna Tee

Áine says:
Only an hour or so outside of London it is perfect for a staycation when you are not wanting to venture too far from home. You can visit tourist hotspots including Brighton pier, Broadwalk or see both from a high viewpoint at the British Airway i360 which is indoors if the weather isn't on your side and city can be admired with a glass of bubbly in hand at the Nyetimber Sky Bar inside, beautiful at sunset! Style our Sequin Two Tone Lip Anna Tee perfect am to pm transition.

North Laine and The Lanes hosts a number of boutiques and independent stores, if you come across Photomatic you can get something to remember the trip with their high-quality photobooth pictures.

Royal Pavilion has been restored to its original state and surrounding gardens are beautiful, it’s honestly hard to believe the architecture is right here in the UK. Right next door is also the Art Museum and Gallery which hosts both permanent galleries and a continuing programme of temporary exhibitions that feature everything from fashion and style, 20th century art/design to fine art.

For dinner I would recommend ‘Food for friends’ a landmark as the oldest local veggie restaurant (one of the first of its time). It’s also independent and local to Brighton only so you can only taste the organic food and drink here which automatically made it top of our list.

MIRIAM
Ecommerce & Marketing Assistant

Recommends: Holkham Beach, Norfolk

Wear: Sunset Boulevard Alex Tee

Miriam says: Located between the towns of Wells-Next -To-Sea and Holkham, the area of Holkham beach is perfect for a quiet weekend retreat. Wells-Next-to-Sea is a quaintly quiet seaside town, with a stunning coastline and a nostalgic British seaside feel. The town itself is small but has loads of independent shops and cafes to explore, with especially good fish & chip shops and ice cream parlours. From the town you can walk down the mile long walkway, along the salt marshland, towards the beach. The view of the sea is stunning, all the way along!

When the tide is out you can wander along the golden sand beach, which stretches for miles and is perfect for a sunset stroll along the dunes which will compliment your Sunset Boulevard Alex Tee. Even when the tide is in you can venture through the Pinewood Forest which blends with the sand, and forms part of the huge Holkham National Nature Reserve.
