The Autumn/Winter 2019 Pre-Collection marks 20 years of Markus Lupfer’s eponymous London label.

One of the stand-out prints from the elevated collection is the flower-patterned ‘Cherub Garden’, drawn in-house and inspired by quintessential British components – impressive country manors and iconic English eccentrics. The design prominently features stately-house wallpaper florals – originally inspired and stemmed from the classic vintage botanical drawings by Robert John Thornton. A scattering of angelic exploring cherubs were later added to infuse humour and a sense of playfulness to the delicate design, whilst still giving a subtle nod to the overall collection’s vision.

The print is available in fresh countryside hues of cornflower blue, rose-petal pink, forest green and classic black. Comfort and confidence may not usually sit side-by-side, but for PreAW19 they are of equal importance, which shows in particular with the timeless Dylan Cherub Garden Wrap Dress and the Emmie Cherub Garden Skirt.

Colour blocking and cleaner lines have helped move the season as a whole towards a cleaner aesthetic, that centres around refined shapes and pleats. The pieces are also very versatile, they will see you effortlessly from a long day at the office right through to evening dinner dates.
